Are you up for joining our DISTANCE CHALLENGES?
The 16 mile and 27 mile events in PURBECK Dorset will also be available as VIRTUAL events for those who can not join us in person.
Yes, our Famous two rugged Distance CHALLENGES are set to go ahead as part of our 5th PURBECK FESTIVAL event on the 18th SEPTEMBER
Those who are joining us at the FESTIVAL can add the challenges to their tickets or it is possible to simply come along for the Challenges on the day
However, we also know that not everybody will be able to make it to Dorset that weekend and we don’t want them to miss out on the fun and sense of achievement!
So, we have set up a team of local coaches and a support group to help ANYBODY who wants to set themselves the challenge of completing either distance on the 18th September
The good news is that this is an official event and all Finishers will get a MEDAL!
We aim to stay in touch with all walkers from the FESTIVAL HUB and share the actual PURBECK route with them both as they train and on the day
Matt Gibbs, the National Challenge Coach (pictured) who won the event in it’s first year says ” We want to encourage walkers, Nordic Walkers and Speedhykers to join us for training and on the day too. Many of our local groups will be supporting those who fancy giving it a try but if YOU can’t find local support, we will support you remotely via our Facebook coaching group where we have a training plan, tips and support to help you put the miles in and also look after your body.”
“One of the first sessions we have is a workshop on blisters” he adds with a smile!
The Challenge Training plan is available via the Coaching Club
Lets make the 18th of SEPTEMBER a day when we all come together to support people far and wide to go the distance. Some local groups are already planning a day where their regular walkers complete sections of the walk with those on the virtual challenge and others are planning drink stations and plenty of treats to keep people going.
On the actual events, we have an army of Marshalls and supporters to cheer the walkers on and a full safety plan which includes the local Coastguard. The routes start and finish in Swanage and cover stunning coastal paths, some proper Dorset hills and idyllic villages along the way
