THE WORLD NORDIC WALKING FESTIVAL in Seville this September is where you will be able to learn all there is to know and try all there is to try about Nordic Walking!

People are coming from across the globe to join it to workshops, presentations, Masterclass sessions and of course…..Nordic Walks (in fact there is a choice of 4 a day – from short and cultural to historical or talk and tapas) DSCN3785

 

The Cities of Seville and Carmona have thrown open their doors to ensure that Nordic Walkers get the best of everything and each day will be a mix of morning walks & workshops punctuated with a tapas style lunch followed by a range of demos and professional presentations.

Here’s just a taste of what will be happening

  • Themed walks
    • Produce of Andolucia – wander through the Olive & Orange Groves
    • History Tours – Discover the rich variety of these ancient Cities that have rich Roman and Moorish influences – includes Roman baths and a Necropolis.
    • Wine tours – find out why the area has been popular with so many cultures over the years! – These unique wines taste of the sunshine.
    • Talk and Tapas – follow the trail to discover typical dishes of the area in traditional bars decorated with Serrano hams and scenes of flamenco dancers.
    • Mass walk in Seville that takes in the River, the amazing parks and gardens plus the famous bullring and even REAL BETIS football stadium.

WORKSHOPS INCLUDE – Mindfulness – Trail running – Stride walk fit indoor and outdoor workouts – Stability for mobility – Nordic circuits and lost lots more

WORLD MASTERS INCLUDE – Marko Kantaneva – Fabio Moretti – Itsik Levy – Martin Christie – Arja Jalkanen-Meyer and Tom Rutlin – more to be announced!!

PRESENTATION TOPICS INCLUDE – Management of Parkinson’s disease – Developing Nordic walking parks – NW for active ageing – Research and the use of technology – Technique variations – Education of Instructors – Marketing & Promoting NW – Growth of Nordic Sports – NW for falls prevention – NW for physical activity promotion and many more ………………………………………………..

If you are NEW to Nordic Walking, worry not, as we are also offering the chance to attend the festival and complete your Learn to Nordic Walk course in the sun with the NWUK team. A great opportunity to gain your NWUK FREEDOM card and meet up with your local Nordic Walkers too!

The event will end with a mass walk around the City of Seville or for the more competitive, the choice of taking part in an organised Nordic Walking race (Distances to be agreed).

If you don’t fancy travelling alone, join in with the HQ groups who will be flying from LONDON , SOUTHAMPTON and one NORTHERN AIRPORT tbc – e mail support@nordicwalking.co.uk if you would prefer to travel with a group rather than meet up with everybody at the festival ( we will be greeting you all the airport though if you do travel alone though!)

FLIGHTS – should you find it easier to fly into Malaga from Regional UK Airports – there will be transfers available ( about 2 hours) let the organisers know what works for you and they will do the rest. All you need to do is spread the word, pack your poles and come and join in the fun!
