What a busy season we have had. The HQ team have travelled far and wide and local groups have supported events and joined forces to enjoy some amazing walks……
NWUK delivered the first Instructor training course in Singapore in April and are proud of how hard all of the new Instructors have worked to gain their NWUK qualifications. This group of ladies who all represent an inspirational group called Trekkers Asia were enjoying their practical training with our Tutor Denise Page on the stunning Sentosa Island. Watch this space for details of their launch in Singapore.
Meanwhile in Malaysia NWUK Instructor Toh Ee who operates her classes on a charitable basis has become a delivery partner and is now busy issuing FREEDOM passes and ensuring her Nordic Walking club members enjoy all the benefits of being part of the NWUK Family!
The annual Grasmere Gallop 10k Nordic Walk organised by the National Trust proved more popular than ever with over 150 Nordic Walkers joining the NWUK HQ team to enjoy the beauty of the Lake District in stunning 26 degree sunshine.
Unlike last year, which was freezing, this made the event even more special as groups from right across the UK met up and socialised on the playing fields and in the Cafes around the Village. Purple Goodie bags were handed out to all the Nordic Walkers by Gill, Mike and Martin from HQ and it was great to everyone arranging to meet up again in Purbeck. Entry is open for the Grasmere Gallop event next year which is on the 3rd June – click here for details and be sure to put TEAM NWUK in the team box!
GROUP MEET UPS
Instructor Caroline Fisher from Saddleworth Nordic Walking arranged a great walk across the Moors – she was joined by other Instructors and their group who are pictured here enjoying the expansive views. A great day was had by all and more invitation walks are planned – Freedom passport holders can book these via the NWUK booking system
It was a busy time for Caroline who also represented NWUK as the Instructor for a luxury break at Ragdale Hall where these lucky Ladies enjoyed a range of spa treatments and the chance to master Nordic Walking technique and gain their Freedom passports
This group from Dorset Nordic went on their annual sojourn to Guernsey with their Instructor Lynne Martin – they had a lovely day with Guernsey Instructor Jane Tullier and her walkers. They walked just under 10 miles with beautiful spring flowers and stunning bluebells and reported that the Guernsey hospitality was wonderful!
On a less favourable day, this group of Nordic Walkers from the New Forest experienced some of the scenery we have in store for you at the Festival in September. Their Instructor Suzanne from Brockenhurst NW brought them to visit us in HQ land and they were lucky enough to enjoy a cold but stunning walk led by Mike from HQ!
More recently Mercian Nordic Walking held an Ascot themed mini festival of their own with Instructors bringing groups from Derbyshire and elsewhere to enjoy the canalside walks and social evening which was by all accounts a great night.
We love hearing about the group meet ups and seeing all of the photos so keep them coming in folks – send to gill@nordicwalking.co.uk
