Once again there have been heaps of events and achievements happening around the UK – here are just a few!
CHESHIRE DISCOVERY DAY
Team NWUK joined local Instructors for the second of our amazing Discovery days on the 7th June. It was a fun filled day in the stunning grounds of Arley Hall and all of the sessions were massively popular with almost 60 people taking part.
There were taster sessions for those keen to find out more and a host of sessions for Nordic walkers wanting to make the most of their trusty poles. Much fun was had on the workout session was a mix of Nordic walking intervals and Bungypump exercises and there were two stunning Adventure walks too. The refresher sessions were a great hit with many participants commenting that they needed to iron out some bad habits and were now delighted to be getting much more out of every step.
Several Instructors joined forces to help us on the day and will now be working together to make Nordic walking in the Cheshire area even better with a host of walks and classes all bookable on line ! See www.cheshirenordicwalking.co.uk
We will be touring the UK with our amazing Discovery days and hope to meet as many Nordic walkers, instructors and absolute beginners when we visit where you live!
Next DISCOVERY DAY is in PRESTON October 10th – more details soon
We love hearing about the trips and events that our Nordic walkers take part in – this group from the Battersea Polers took a trip of a lunchtime with their Instructors Tug and Bibi – they trekked to the awesome Machu Picchu – here they are warming up for the final climb.
The Amazing Val Toomey from Devon Nordic Walked the London to Brighton Challenge in 25hours 40 minutes. She came in 567 out of 1137 finishers. The last person back took 35.24 hours and 468 didn’t finish – so a big WELL DONE from us at NWUK. This was the first of 3 100k Val is doing to raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
This is definitely a first at NWUK! Nordic Walkers from the Stepping out for health group in Lytham St Anne’s turned out in force to honour the Instructor Bart and his lovely new wife Ewa on their wedding day – with Nordic walking poles of course!
Its great to see so many groups meeting up to walk together across the UK – In this picture the HQ team joined in with local Dorset instructors to host a walk for a group from Chichester.
In this picture two groups from Hertford and Colchester also got together to enjoy a special walk in the sunshine. Send us pictures of your special walks and events or pop them onto our lively Facebook page @nordicwalkinguk where you can stay in touch with everything Nordic walking!
