REGIONAL BULLETIN DORSET
Nordic Walking UK has grown rapidly in the past two years and we recognise that our Instructors need maximum support as well as the extensive training we provide for them. That’s why we are beginning to establish more localised networks to offer them the chance to work as a team, benefit from regional marketing and provide a wider range of walks and exercise sessions as a result!
One of the first areas of the UK for this to go live has been in Dorset because that’s where our HQ is situated and our team (pictured) are on hand to provide added support. We are also here on your doorstep too so please pop in whenever you are passing! We have a small retail showroom and our experts are always on hand to advise on poles, clothing and shoes. Pictured here are our Education, IT , Marketing and Retail chaps plus their canine friends!
The key development in Dorset has been the new central on line class search and booking facility which allows you to search for the type of class (from wellbeing to workout walks and everything in between) in the exact location and even in the date range that might suit you. See www.dorsetnordicwalking.co.uk
To make things easier each activity type has a clear icon like the one shown here for a ‘Learn to Nordic Walk course to help you find exactly what you are looking for. Each Instructor is able to upload the sessions onto their own websites and they also show on the Regional portal and the National NWUK website (which is great for when you might be travelling around the UK) They can also add detailed class descriptions, photos of the walk and group and even a map of how to find the start!
We are also delighted to be working with Bournemouth university and Bournemouth Council to offer their employees cost effective workplace sessions and the opportunity to also join local instructors closer to home at weekends and evenings. Each group has a special section on the website (see top search bar) and can log in to take advantage of the discounted walks.
Take a look at the Regional site for Dorset by clicking here www.dorsetnordicwalking.co.uk – you can read about the Instructors who have opted to join in with the scheme and search for the type of classes you want. Once you have chosen the activity, it’s a simple process to get registered and to book your chosen walk or class. The system is also fairly advanced because it can recognise those who have completed a tuition course (with Instructors who choose to issue Freedom passes) and because you complete a medical questionnaire, it also ensures any instructor you book with is aware of your personal health and fitness levels and can advise accordingly. Perhaps more importantly, they can also gain access to this from our secure portal in the event of an accident which helps the emergency services and means the Instructors do not need to carry their clients personal info around with them in order to manage safety procedures.
Payment options are simple too. If you are new to Nordic Walking and have not completed a course yet, you will only be able to book a Taster or tuition course but if you have completed this and have a FREEDOM passport you can follow the instructions and enter the code (which starts with CC ) this will ensure you can book any session of your choice with 3 simple payment options, pay n play, pre paid packages (like the old 10 session cards) or even a monthly plan. The last two provide massive discounts for those of you who regularly Nordic walk especially if you plan to join other groups from time to time.
If you have previously registered your card with us, your unique number will show on the top of this newsletter but if you did not register, have lost your FREEDOM (or competence card), don’t know your number or have learned to Nordic walk but never received a card or code – give us a call on 0333 1234540 and we will get you sorted. If you feel you would like a technique refresher session, our experts from HQ will be at Moors Valley Country park on 22nd January to re cap the basics and issue Passports – book your place here
PS One final benefit is that once you register on the booking portal you will qualify for FREE membership of Nordic Walking UK which now provides a host of benefits including 15% discount in Cotswold outdoors and 10% in our store (click here for more information) – don’t forget to apply for your card when you register.
