Nordic_Walking_photoshoot-77The effects of over eating and hibernating indoors leave many of us choosing to make lifestyle changes in January. From being more active to cutting down on the booze, many of the major charities have devised campaigns that will help you to stick to your resolution AND raise money too in 2015.

So, why not sign up to make a pledge and make a resolution that you will actually stick to in 2015? Here are a few ideas we have found for you…

Feeling lethargic and unfit or need a boost for your exercise regime – check out  JANTASTIC a great motivating campaign by Macmillan Cancer support which you can do solo or as a team with friends and family. It is based on running, swimming or cycling but we say….pick up those poles and Nordic walk it!!  Its a great way to give your training a boost. Sign up here

MAKE IT A HABIT  is a great way for colleagues to get together and encourage each other to eat well and be more active. This three week challenge starts on the 12th Jan so rally those workmates and see if you can all kickstart your healthier lifestyle in 2015. Remember, Nordic Walking is perfect for a sociable but effective lunchtime workout!  here

GO BOOZE FREE! – Once the new year parties are out of the way, why not give your Liver a well earned break too? This year there are lots of campaigns aimed at reducing alcohol consumption and if you are going to cut down, why not raise money too? You can choose to become a DRYATHLETE with Cancer research’s latest fundraiser DRYATHLON  ( sign up here  and get a pack) or sign up for the slightly more serious message alcohol concern who are promoting DRY JANUARY  as a way to lose weight, feel great and save money too (sign  up here )

Whether you choose one of these motivating campaigns or you choose to go it alone, our advice is to pick up those poles at least three times a week and get out for an energy boosting Nordic Walk. Of course if you also cut down on the wine, sugar and fatty foods as well, you will look and feel even more marvellous!
