If you love Nordic Walking and a challenge – this is for you!
Sign up for an exciting new challenge organised by grant- making breast cancer charity Walk the Walk! The organisers of The MoonWalk London, The MoonWalk Edinburgh Scotland and The MoonWalk Iceland are introducing The Arctic Marathon. Perfect for Nordic Walkers who want to see how all that training has developed all round fitness and a great way to transfer technique onto skis!
If you fancy having a go, you’ll travel to the Abisko National Park in
northern Sweden between 28th February and 5th March 2013. On special trails created by local rangers, you’ll backcountry ski 26.2 miles over 2 days, staying overnight in mountain huts. During your stay in the Sub Arctic, you will also hopefully see the elusive Northern Lights, stay in the famous Ice Hotel, and be transported back to the airport by husky sledges!
The ability to backcountry ski is not important; it is the desire to experience
a very different challenge. Walk the Walk suggests that anyone taking part commits to learning the basics on dry ski slopes before they go – around three to five lessons should be sufficient although we say …..have some ski fit lessons with your local NWUK Instructor too!
To date, Walk the Walk has raised in excess of £82 million to support research into breast cancer and organisations which provide emotional and physicalsupport for those living with cancer now. For more information, click here TheArcticMarathon
