The British Heart Foundation National Centre for physical activity held a sell out conference this month which was focussed on ‘behaviour change’ and how to encourage the inactive to become active….for life!
Nordic Walking UK were delighted to be asked to provide the midday activity workshop and Jason Feavers (our wellbeing and exercise referral expert) put together a brilliant – SIT, STAND, WALK wellbeing programme that incorporated mindfulness, balance, strength and flexibility. Participants were shown how easy it is to take a pair of poles into a workplace, care home or even clients home and provide a comprehensive yet gentle workout. The theme was how to encourage people to understand the importance of the vital elements of fitness that will help them to stay independent and active for longer.
Martin Christie and Kaye Lay from HQ were also on hand to help delegates understand how they can link up with local NWUK delivery partners and Instructors across the UK to provide access to these types of effective programmes.
Top marks also go out to Dawn Mclean (NWUK Tutor) and Bart Piotrowicz for their hard work showcasing Nordic Walking at the Fit Camp event in Preston recently – well done chaps!
