Age UK Newham lead walks in East London

If you thought that Nordic Walking was only suited to the leafy home counties, think again! Bee Burgess and Joan Lewis of AGE UK NEWHAM first added it to their Health walks programme in 2008 and now have a sustainable, inspirational programme with a host of leaders and some amazing case studies. DUNCAN BARRATT on the other hand was a retired Architect in Buckinghamshire when the local sports partnership funded his training to become an Instructor – he has since been on an amazing journey which has taken him all the way to Buckingham Palace and has inspired people of all ages to be more more active, along the way.

This community and active ageing workshop is a mix of presentations from those at the coal face, case studies and an interactive discussion with our expert panel. Come and find out how Bart Piotrowicz set up his inspirational STEPPING OUT FOR HEALTH programme in Lytham St Annes when he was made redundant or how TORBAY CARE TRUST chose to package their programme in a unique way and have had such a positive reponse they had a waiting list!

The workshop will be chaired by Gill Stewart who has over 30 years experience in Physical activity promotion and has developed programmes to help hundreds of projects increase participation and retention. Join her and the speakers to explore what works and what does not, how to best evaluate success and how we can work together to build on the feel good factor created by the Olympics.  Book Today
